The Manila Water Co. has announced that its chief operating officer (COO) Geodino Carpio just resigned from his position.
KAMI learned that Carpio’s resignation is effective today. However, he will still finish his tasks until the end of the month.
In a report by the GMA News (author Anna Felicia Bajo), Manila Water’s Board of Directors have accepted the resignation of Carpio.
“Ang natanggap lang po naming notice ay tinanggap na po ng aming Board of Directors ang kaniyang pagbibitiw. Pero siya po ay magtatrabaho pa hanggang sa katapusan ng buwan," Dittie Galang, Manila Water's communications planning and tactical development manager said.
As reported by the ABS-CBN News, the board has chosen Abelardo Basilio as the acting COO. He has been working in Manila Water for 22 years and previously served as the director of the technical services group and officer in charge of corporate regulatory affairs.
In a previous report by KAMI, President Rodrigo Duterte had threatened the officials of MWSS, Manila Water, and Maynilad due to the water shortage in Metro Manila. President said that he would fire the officials of MWSS responsible to the crisis and terminate the contracts of Maynilad and Manila Water if they are not able to fix the issue.
