- President Rodrigo Duterte claimed that rich people control the water supply in Metro Manila
- The President noted that the recent water crisis happened because of them
- He also accused the wealthy people of financing agencies like Rappler
President Rodrigo Duterte accused the wealthy people in the Philippines for allegedly having control over the water supply in Metro Manila.
KAMI learned that the President also accused the “rich people” for financing the news site Rappler.
“They didn’t plan on opening it because they were waiting for an increase. Only then will they release the water. That’s true. These rich people, these sons of b**** are milking us dry,” the President said in Visayan, as reported by the GMA News (author Virgil Lopez).
The President also criticized the rich people for allegedly supporting and financing Rappler.
“They are the ones who finance agencies like Rappler,” President Duterte said.
“Look at their vehicles, their houses. They have been asking money from clients for a long time, especially those big-time writers there. But there are others who refuse to give in. But most of them do,” he added.
As previously reported by KAMI, President Duterte threatened to fire the officials of Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) and terminate the contracts of Manila Water and Maynilad due to the water crisis that affected the consumers in Metro Manila.
