Electric power distribution company Meralco announced that there will be power interruptions in several areas in Luzon. KAMI learned that the affected areas will be experiencing 3-hour brownouts on Friday (April 12).
In a report by the ABS-CBN News, the Luzon grid is on red alert this week that could result in rotational brownouts that could last up to 1 to 2 hours.
"We are adjusting to the current situation... Ngayon, negative na. Ibig sabihin wala na tayong mapapagkunang reserba. In this case, deficiency na tayo," Meralco spokesman Joe Zaldarriaga said.
Here are the affected areas, according to the Philippine Star:
- Quezon City
- San Juan
- Las Piñas
- General Trias
- Trece Martirez
- Cavite City
- Malolos City
- San Rafael
- San Ildefonso
- Doña Remedios
- Santa Maria
- Talisay, Batangas
- Taytay, Rizal
- Cainta, Rizal
- Cabuyao, Laguna
- Apalit, Pampanga
According to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), the red alert will start at 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., while the yellow warning was in effect beginning at 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and then from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.
