A female British tourist was almost raped in El Nido, Palawan. KAMI learned that the 29-year-old who is a resident in England was assaulted as she was trying to enjoy her vacation in one of the best tourist spots in the Philippines.
In a report by the Palawan News (author Gillan Faye Ibañez), the incident happened at around 3 a.m. when the victim was walking at a dark alley near her hotel on April 10. However, the victim managed to escape from the harasser.
“Wala, hindi nangyari ‘yon kasi parang nag-a-attempt pa lang siya nakatakbo na ‘yong ating victim, naka-bigwas na agad,” MIMAROPA Police Regional Office (MPRO) spokesperson Police Lieutenant Colonel Socrates Faltado said.

However, the victim only reported the incident at around 4 in the afternoon on the same day. The authorities are still conducting a follow-up investigation about the case.
As reported by the Manila Bulletin (author Aaron Recuenco), this was the third time that a sexual assault happened in El Nido, Palawan, this year.
The first one happened on February 13, involving an Irish tourist and the suspect was a tricycle driver. The second incident was on March 12 when a 43-year old man attempted to harass a female Spanish tourist.
