Three minor planets are now named after three students of Camarines Sure National High School. KAMI learned that the students won second place in the 2018 International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).
In a report by the CNN Philippines, the Department of Education shared on social media the “good news” about the students who won in the “Energy: Physical” category.
“Eugene Rivera, Joscel Kent Manzanero, and Keith Russel Cadores of Camarines Sur National High School in Naga City, Camarines Sur each received a certificate identifying their very own minor planet and an orbital plot showing its current location,” it read.
According to a report by the Philippine Star (author Janvic Mateo), the students also received a $1,500 cash incentive aside from naming the planets after them.
The DepEd is now reviewing six science projects that are shortlisted for the ISEF this 2019 that will be happening in May in Arizona.
