Former Senator and re-electionist Juan Ponce Enrile got the endorsement of “People’s Champ” Manny Pacquiao. KAMI learned that the support of Pacquiao is a big deal for Enrile.
"Malaking bagay para sa akin ito, he is a leader here and he is our hero," Enrile said.
“Hero ito sa bansa natin, e. Bihira ‘yung itataas niyan ang kamay mo,” he added.
In a report by the ABS-CBN News (author Jay Dayupay), Pacquiao shared that he will be supporting Enrile to seek a seat in the Senate once again.
"Our local political party, People’s Champ Movement in GenSan, Sarangani and South Cotabato will support Senator Enrile para maging Senador siya ulit," Pacquiao said.
As previously reported by KAMI, Enrile was one of the accused when the ‘pork barrel scam’ controversy broke out. Enrile allegedly had a P172.8 million kickback from his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF). In 2015, he posted P1.45 million bail and was temporarily set free.

He first served in the Senate from 1987 to 1992. He had his second term from 1995 to 2001 and then from 2004 to 2016.
The 95-year-old Enrile will become the oldest Senator if he wins in the upcoming mid-term elections.
