- The Philippine Coast Guard did not issue a permit to the Otso Diretso bets to go to the Scarborough Shoal
- Gary Alejano said that only fishers are allowed to go to the area
- The Senatorial aspirants protested against the “bullying” of China to the Philippines
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) did not issue any permit to grant the request of Otso Diretso candidates to use boats going to the Scarborough Shoal as they protest against China.
KAMI learned from GMA News Online (author Erwin Colcol) that Senatorial aspirant and Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano said that “no media is allowed and others that are not fishermen” to go to the Scarborough Shoal.
“Takot sila na pag nag-violate sila ma-impound ang bangka nila," he said.
"We were informed by the fishermen that they have to ask clearance from Coast Guard every time they go out fishing. The clearance includes manifest of the vessel," he added.
ABS-CBN News reported that PCG mentioned "national security" as the reason. They also shared a photo showing that Otso Diretso bets Chel Diokno, Florin Hilbay, Samira Gutoc, and Gary Alejano had a jetski prepared for President Rodrigo Duterte.
KAMI recently reported that the Senatorial aspirants urge President Duterte to fulfill the promise that he made during the campaign period of 2016 elections. Earlier, Otso Diretso supporters also waved the Philippine flags in order to show their protest against the presence of a Chinese vessel in Batangas.
