- Saab Magalona and Quest recently argued on Twitter over gay marriage
- Quest stated that marriage should only be between a man and a woman
- Saab dismissed this and said that she hopes the OPM artist would “have a change of heart sooner or later”
Saab Magalona and Indie OPM singer Quest argued on Twitter over their beliefs on gay marriage.
Quest posted a Tweet as a response to a netizen asking him if he agrees with gay marriage and divorce in the country.
He answered that he does not believe in gay marriage but he respects people who believes in it otherwise.
The singer also stated that people should not force their beliefs on one another as a form of respect.
Saab disagreed with him and commented on his Tweet. She said:
"I think it’s alright to compromise if you later learn that your own beliefs are incredibly backward. Some people are straight up attacking you but I hope you don’t dismiss those who are genuinely trying to enlighten you."
According to Saab, Quest’s belief is one of the reasons why the LGBTQ community is being criticized by our society.
Other netizens who saw their heated exchange chimed in on the online conversation and justified their own beliefs as well.
See what others had to say to this issue below:
I'm a straight guy, and very religious as well, but i'm for same-[gender] marriage. LOVE IS LOVE. Not even my religion can stop me from letting my brothers and sisters from the LGBT+ community have the happiness that they truly deserve.
Hello, I don't believe that Quest's beliefs are the reason why the government isn't giving same rights to the LGBTQ+ community. If you think it is, you didn't get his point.
Whatever his reason is, one cannot simply write "I respect people's beliefs" and "I don't agree with same-[gender] marriage" in the same tweet. And I get that he's becoming a true ally, but that idea still hurts the minorities.
