- Multiple social media posts went viral after claiming that the lawmakers have reached a “final result”
- The alleged result has something to do with the 2016 vice presidential election recount of VP Leni Robredo and Bongbong Marcos Jr.
- However, the claim was reported to be false
Multiple Facebook posts claimed that the National Board of Canvassers already made a “final decision” with regard to the 2016 vice presidential election recount involving VP Leni Robredo and former Senator Bongbong Marcos Jr.
KAMI learned that the viral posts claimed that Robredo had lost the recount. However, this claim has been debunked by a French news agency, Agence France-Presse.
“Dahil sa gag order. Bawal ito pero sa katotohanang lalabas mula sa Supreme Court, abangan! Bilang na araw mo mandarayang lugaw. Kahiya-hiya sa kasaysayan,” it read in the caption.
According to the Philippine Constitution Article VII Section 4, only the Supreme Court can handle and judge the electoral protests for the President and Vice President. You may check it here.
However, Supreme Court spokesman Brian Keith Hosaka told AFP that there is no final result released yet with regard to the vice presidential election recount.
Hosaka added that they would let the media know once a resolution has been released regarding this matter.
As reported by KAMI months ago, the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) has granted the request of Robredo to maintain the 25% shading threshold.
