Senatorial candidate and human rights lawyer Chel Diokno admitted that he has never met folk singer Freddie Aguilar in person. KAMI learned what would Diokno do if ever the time comes that they finally face each other.
“Never pa kami nag-meet,” Diokno said, as reported by the Inquirer (author Leo Udtohan).
During the campaign rally of Otso Diretso in Bohol, Diokno also told the Inquirer that he is willing have a duet with Aguilar.
“Siyempre kakamayan natin yan, magpapakilala ako sa kanya. Baka puwede kami mag-duet,” Diokno quipped.

The human rights lawyer also clarified that he has no personal issues with Aguilar, and he was just answering the tirades of President Rodrigo Duterte against him.
“Wala naman po akong personal issue kay Freddie Aguilar. Sinasagot ko lang ang sinasabi ni Pangulo. Alam niyo marami pong binabanggit na salita si Pangulo tungkol sa akin,” he said.
As previously reported by KAMI, President Duterte compared Diokno to Aguilar. The lawyer said that Aguilar is a great singer. However, he added that the Senate is not a “karaoke bar.”
Aguilar then answered that Diokno “degraded” his contribution to the Filipino music industry. He added that he is a composer and considered an intellectual.
