- Freddie Aguilar criticized Chel Diokno and called him a “joke”
- Aguilar added that Diokno “degraded” his contributions to the music industry
- The singer also said that he is an artist and an intellectual
OPM folk singer Freddie Aguilar slammed human rights lawyer Chel Diokno for questioning his qualifications as a senator. KAMI learned that Aguilar also called Diokno a “joke.”
In a report by the Inquirer (author Darryl John Esguerra), Aguilar claimed that Diokno degraded his contributions to the music industry.
“Iba po ako . I’m a composer, I’m an artist. I am considered an intellectual, ‘yun po ang tawag saming mga composer. Ano pong tawag kay Diokno? Joke, he’s a joke. Hindi niya nga nadifferentiate ang karaoke at saka art eh,” he said.
“Ako po ay isang artist. Wala po akong kinalaman sa karaoke bar. Makikita ninyo si Diokno, J-O-K-E-N-O ah hindi niya alam ang sinasabi niya,” Aguilar added.
As previously reported by KAMI, President Rodrigo Duterte compared Aguilar to Diokno. The human rights lawyer said that Aguilar could be a great singer, but the Senate is not a “karaoke bar.”
