In an article by the Health Magazine (author Carrey Rossi), stress hormones release cortisol. Higher levels of cortisol may result in getting more visceral fat, the kind of fat that gets stored in the abdomen which is much harder to lose.
6. You drink too much alcohol, sweet beverages, and eat sugary foods
According to the Healthline (author Franziska Spritzler, RD, CDE), high sugar intake may result in excess belly fat due to the high fructose content. Also, having a “beer belly” caused by alcohol is hard to lose because it suppresses fat burning.
7. Lack of sleep
It is important to get at least 7 hours of sleep a day. Studies showed that those who sleep for less than 5 hours are more likely to gain weight.
