- The passengers were in for a surprise stopover when their flight landed in the wrong country
- Instead of going to Germany, the plane landed in Scotland
- All of them were surprised with what happened, even the pilot
British Airways flight BA3271 mistakenly landed in the wrong country on Monday. KAMI learned that instead of going to Dusseldorf in Germany, the plane landed in Edinburgh, Scotland from London.
In a report by the CNN (authors Emily Dixon and Gianluca Mezzofiore), the plane was operated by WDL Aviation on behalf of British Airways CityFlyer. The error was spotted when WDL Aviation filed an incorrect flight plan. The pilot and air traffic control officials followed the plan going to Scotland and did not notice the error.
One passenger named Sophie Cooke shared that at first, they thought that the pilot was joking when he announced that they have arrived in Scotland. The pilot then asked the passengers to raise their hands if they want to go to Germany and everyone did put their hands up.
"The pilot said he had no idea how it had happened," Cooke said, as reported by the ABC.
Another passenger named Son Tran also shared his experience while in the flight.
After the quick stop in Scotland, the plane refueled and then flew going to Germany this time. British Airways said that they will be contacting the passengers individually to apologize.
