- Coco was also praised for his accomplishments
Coco Martin got featured in a Hong Kong English newspapercalled South China Morning Post (SCMP). A journalist named Karim Raslan dubs Coco Martin the “Filipino everyman.”
“In person, he’s shorter than you’d expect. Disarming; he’s also trim, handsome (but not too handsome) with an empathetic smile and warm eyes. When you meet him, he’s immediately familiar. He could be the mechanic from down the road, the kindly hospital orderly, or the overseas foreign worker. Nondescript. Ordinary, but trustworthy, " part of the article read.

The article also stressed that being ordinary is fine. Because of being an “everyman,” the actor is someone people can relate to which is somehow true. His image of being "pangmasa" makes him one of the most idolized matinee idol in the country.
In the popular series Ang Probinsyano, he plays an “incorruptible police officer—quickly [becoming] the cynosure of all Filipinos, reinforcing his popularity and huge commercial appeal.” For viewers and because of how powerful Coco’s “everyman” appeal can be, things “have paid off: Ang Probinsyano has so far run for six seasons and some 900 episodes.”
The article also pointed out how Coco's TV series maintains its viewers' interest. “At a time when the national mood is so steeped in violence and profanity, the Cardo/Coco combine stands out all the more.”
FPJ's Ang Probinsiyano is a TV series based on Fernando Poe Jr's film in 1997 with the same title. The ABS-CBN TV series is considered as one of the longest running teleserye as it continuously soars in ratings on its 3rd year. Coco Martin top-bills the show.
