Chinese President Xi Jinping is now facing an international court case filed by local fishermen and former Philippine officials before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
KAMI learned that Xi and other Chinese officials were accused of committing crimes that resulted to inhumanity as Beijing implemented a plan in order to control the South China Sea.
In a report by the ABS-CBN News, former Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales and former Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario have accompanied the fishermen to submit the communication against Xi.
It read in the letterthat Xi and some officials allegedly “persecuted” and “injured” some local fishermen.
According to a report by Rappler (author Paterno Esmaquel II), the former government officials submitted the communication on March 15, just two days before the withdrawal of the Philippines from the ICC became effective.
However, despite the Philippines’ withdraw, the international court said that they will be pursuing their investigation with regard to President Rodrigo Duterte’s drug war.
