- Comedian turned politician Roderick Paulate got suspended by the Sandigangbayan 7th Division
- He was accused of pocketing P1.109 million and having 30 ghost employees
- The Ang Probinsyano star would be facing 90-day preventive suspension
Quezon City Councilor Roderick Paulate was suspended for 90 days over a pending graft case.
Paulate is facing one count of graft case and several counts of falsification of public documents.
He was accused of taking P1.109 million from taxpayers' money declaring that these were salaries given to the 30 ghost employees.
The Petrang Kabayo actor argued and said that the ruling against him, which was already made by the Office of the Ombudsman, was reversed by the Court of Appeals since there was no sufficient evidence.
According to him, the Ombudsman has already made a complete investigation and that suspending him will make no sense.
Roderick also added that the Local Government Code of 1991 does not allow suspension of local officials 90 days before an election. The 2019 elections are going to be on May 13 and Paulate is vying for the position of the Quezon City Vice Mayor.
Roderick Paulate was a child actor, TV host, actor, comedian, and politician. He became known after playing the role of a gay turning horse in the movie "Petrang Kabayo."
