A gunman was on the loose around Christchurch in New Zealand after mass shootings happened in two mosques. KAMI learned that the New Zealand police confirmed that there were multiple fatalities and one person has already been arrested.
According to a report by CNN, there were reports saying that the gunman had broadcasted the firing live on social media. The police said that they are “aware” of the video. However, they cannot confirm nor deny it yet as of posting.

Some eyewitnesses shared that the shooting lasted for about “10 to 15 minutes” with 200 people around. In a report by the New York Times, the attack reportedly happened while young protesters were in Christchurch and other cities gathered to call for action on climate change.
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said during a press conference that the shooting in Christchurch is “one of New Zealand’s darkest days.”
Update: Rappler reported that at least 49 were confirmed killed during the mass shootings. The suspect was identified to be an Australian extremist. The Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison referred to the suspect as "an extremist, right-wing, violent terrorist."
