A look at the life of Jonathan 'Chokoleit' Garcia before he reached fame as a comedian

Before the whole Philippines knew "Chokoleit," "Pearly Shell," and all other screen names that the comedian became popular for, he was "Jonathan Garcia."

KAMI learned that his life as Jonathan was featured in Rated K and it showed the struggles that the comedian went through for his family.

According to the "Maraming Salamat, Chokoleit" episode of Rated K, Chokoleit grew up in Davao and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication Degree.

Before becoming a comedian, he also worked in a beauty parlor of Ricky Reyes.

The comedian narrated in an old episode how he saw his mother undergoing too much difficulty in raising the four of them.

"Nakikita ko talagang hirap na hirap na ang nanay namin sa apat samin. Umabot ako sa puntong pag papalapit na ang konduktor, tatayo ako at bababa, tapos, sasakay ulit hanggang makaabot ako sa amin."

Then, he tried his luck in a comedy bar and it was there that he ascertained his prowess in making people laugh.

From a comedy bar, he was able to enter showbiz. One of his most notable roles was being "Pearly Shell" in the teleserye "Marina" where Claudine Barretto was the lead star.

Jonathan was very "mabait" towards his family, co-workers and friends. He would often share his love for cooking to his followers.

Most of all, he never fails to share his precious moments with Malia, his inaanak.

Up to the very last moment, Chokoleit opted to make people happy.

His performance in Abra, March 9, simply showed how much it means for the comedian to bring a smile to other people's faces.
