- Vice President Leni Robredo said that the debate should be left to the current Senatorial aspirants
- She added that there is a perfect time to debate with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio
- Earlier, Duterte-Carpio dared to face the Otso Diretso candidates in a debate
Vice President Leni Robredo said that Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio should leave the public debate to the Senate candidates. KAMI learned that while she is ready to face Duterte-Carpio in a debate, now is just not the right time.
In a report by GMA News, Robredo was in Hong Kong with the Otso Diretso candidates to woo the Filipino voters.
"Hindi naman kami mga kandidato ngayon. Iyong dapat nakatuon iyong pansin ng mga tao sa mga kandidato. Sila iyong dapat nagde-debate, hindi kami," Robredo said.
"May panahon para mag-debate kami, pero hindi ngayon, kasi kapag kami nag-debate, mawawala sa atensyon ng mga taumbayan iyong mga dapat na issues na tinatanong sa mga kandidato natin. Iyon iyong dapat pagtuonan ng pansin,” she added.

The Vice President was also asked to comment about the tirades of Duterte-Carpio against her. According to a report by the CNN Philippines, Robredo just said that she opted not to further comment about the issue.
Earlier, the Otso Diretso candidates said that the slate of Duterte-Carpio’s regional party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), should join the public debates after the Commission on Elections turned down the request to moderate a debate between the two parties.
Later on, Duterte-Carpio commented that it would be more interesting to see her debating against the candidates of Otso Diretso.
