Chokoleit's untimely demise made headlines today. He had a difficulty breathing even during his performance. The governor of Abra expressed her sadness over what happened and lauded the comedian for his professionalism.

"His demise sadden our hearts and we are indeed very grateful as he shared his final moment up on stage sharing his artistry, giving our fellow [Abrenian] not only laughter but a sense of hope and love, and gracing our celebration with utmost level of professionalism," she said.

She also dispelled the news that he was rushed to a hospital in Vigan, which is more than 1.5 hours away from Abra.

According to a report by Justin Aguilar,of ABS-CBN News, he was taken to the Abra Provincial Hospital, where he succumbed to pulmonary edema and heart attack, his attending physician Dr. Rosauro Seares.

“May Chokoleit’s death be a way for the Abra government to finally put up a reliable hospital. Malayo ang Abra sa Vigan. That’s almost 1.5 hours," says a comment from a netizen.

Jonathan Aguilar Garcia, better known by his stage name Chokoleit, is a Filipino comedian, actor, and TV host. He is best known for his role as Pearly Shell in the Philippine television series Marina.
