A 12-year-old girl showed the world how love can make one sacrifice her own life, even at a young age.
KAMI learned that an elder sister used her body as a shield to protect her 5-year-old brother from a fire that razed their home.
According to The Asian Parent, 12-year-old Chen Zimo and her little brother, Mozi, were sleeping in their home when the fire broke out.
It was around 3:00 A.M. and the parents of the two children were not with them. The father was busy with the family's business, while the mother was working night shifts as a nurse.
Moved by love for her younger brother, the girl used her body and a blanket to protect her brother from the fire.
Their father found them unconscious, with the little boy covered in a blanket, and his sister's body hugging him.
Having been exposed to the fire, 55% of the brave girl's body suffered from 3rd-degree burns.
For five days, the girl struggled at the hospital, but her body finally gave in and died.
Her death was not in vain as she was able to save her little brother.
Their dad stated, "If she (Zimo) had stayed under her own blanket, she would have been in a less serious condition than her brother."
The sad and somehow inspiring story of Zimo happened on February 22, 2019 in Hunan, China.
