- Duterte-Carpio has finally spoken regarding the issue
President Rodrigo Duterte and his daughter Sara Duterte-Carpio have shown different interests in the mayoral race in San Juan City.
KAMI learned that President Duterte endorsed Francis Zamora during the campaign event of PDP-Laban in Laguna. Meanwhile, Duterte-Carpio showed her support for Janella Ejercito, the daughter of former Sen. Jinggoy Estrada.
According to a report by the Manila Bulletin, Duterte-Carpio was asked why she and her father had different choices in the mayoral race, the mayor said that as a president, Duterte is “allowed to have his personal choices.”
“The president is a different entity from HNP so walang away. Magkaiba lang ang choices,” the Davao City mayor said.
Endorsed by the President, Zamora expressed his gratitude to be part of PDP-Laban party. He also shared that he wants to break the Ejercito-Estrada clan’s ruling in San Juan for over 50 years.
“Being endorsed by the President is a big thing. It means he sees something in [me],” said Zamora, as reported by Inquirer.
“I’ve never been involved in plunder and graft. Contrary to Jinggoy, who is just out on bail for that exact crime,” he added.
In a report by Rappler, Ejercito and Zamora are almost tied in terms of voter’s preference. According to a survey conducted in November 2018, Ejercito had 44 percent voter’s preference, while Zamora gained 43 percent.
