- President Rodrigo Duterte has thrown strong words against the Catholic Church
- This time, he said that the Catholicism would “disappear” in 25 years
- The President also mentioned the involvement of priests and bishops in sexual abuse
President Rodrigo Duterte said that Catholicism would “disappear” in 25 years. KAMI learned that according to the President, the people would forget the Catholicism due to the rampant issues about sexual abuse that have been going on.
“Itong Katoliko na ito, will disappear in almost 25 years, wala na ‘yan,” the President said, as reported by ABS-CBN News.
“Hindi na makalimutan ng tao ‘yung --- ito pala ang Katoliko. ‘Pag inabot ng libog, madre. Kung ang mga bakla ang p***** i** niya, mga bata. Who needs a religion like that? Tapos sige ka pa bigay kada linggo ihatid pala niya sa kabit niya,” he added.
According to a report by Inquirer, President Duterte said that his dissent towards the Catholic Church is his personal views.
“What I can say about that is this: My quarrel with the Catholic Church is personal. You, who are drug addicts, don’t harm bishops and cardinals because they are not involved in the political ruckus,” President Duterte said.
As previously reported by KAMI, President Duterte has made a remark about the “tambays” harming the priests and bishops.
“Kaya pagdating ko, sabi ko, ‘Hoy, kayong mga tambay diyan, ‘pag dumaan ‘yang obispo ninyo, holdapan ‘yan, maraming pera ‘yan,” the President stated.
“Patayin mo. Galit sa akin ‘yung sige yawyaw,” he added.
However, the Palace defended the remark of President Duterte. According to Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, the President was just using a “hyperbole” to add a dramatic effect.
