Collegiate basketball star of Duke University Zion Williamson has experienced a shoe malfunction in the midst of their highly anticipated game against North Carolina. KAMI learned that the basketball star was wearing a sneaker manufactured by Nike.
According to a report by CNN, Nike’s shares fell down by almost 2% after the incident. On the other hand, the star of Duke Blue Devils has been suffering a mild sprain on his right knee, as shared by Coach Mike Krzyzewski.
It has been reported that the sneaker company may face litigation. However, Nike has released an official statement regarding the incident.
“We are obviously concerned and want to wish Zion a speedy recovery,” it read.
“The quality and performance of our products are of utmost importance. While this is an isolated occurrence, we are working to identify the issue,” it added.
Williamson’s shoe malfunction could cost him to be the top pick in the NBA draft, as reported by New York Post.
