Recently, Rappler CEO Maria Ressa has shared her thoughts about social media accounts being used to “troll” or “convince” other people.

“The accounts deployed also seemed to get marching orders to troll/convince @madeleine @camanpour @cafreeland and others they were wrong,” Ressa said.

KAMI learned that supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte rushed to the office of Rappler to prove that they are not trolls as what Ressa tweeted.

In a report by ABS-CBN News, Duterte supporter Mark Lopez shared through a Facebook live video that he went to Rappler’s office with his friend, Jovybev Aquino, to “express” their “outrage.”

"We can’t take that tweet. Di namin kinaya 'yan. Malaking sampal po iyan sa amin, sa atin, dahil 'yung sinasabi po d'yan eh tayo daw na mga trolls lang na tumatanggap lang ng marching orders from somebody else,” Lopez said.

“So we’re here to prove to Ms. Ressa that we are not trolls, that we are here to express our outrage," he added.

Lopez showed his poster with the phrase: “As a Filipino, I am going to hold Maria Ressa and Rappler accountable for destroying the image of my country.”

Meanwhile, the friend of Lopez was holding a poster which read: “I am not a troll acting on anyone’s marching orders. I am 100% Filipino who loves this country more than an American can ever do.”

After 7 minutes, security personnel of the building asked the Duterte supporters to leave and go downstairs.

KAMI reported before that Ressa was arrested inside the headquarters of Rappler due to the cyber-libel complaint filed against her by businessman Wilfredo Keng. The case was related to the article Rappler published in 2012.
