- The Palace said that the beauty queen is “misinformed” about the issue
- However, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said that he is glad that Gray has addressed the issue
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray has recently commented about the issue with regard to lowering the age of criminal responsibility. However, KAMI learned that the Palace said Gray should be educated on the age of criminal liability.
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said that the Miss Universe 2018 is “misinformed” about the aforementioned issue and she has to be educated about it, as reported by Inquirer.
On the other hand, Panelo said that he is glad that the beauty queen has addressed the issue because it only shows that she is concerned.
In a report by GMA News, Gray aired her side about the issue of lowering the age of criminal responsibility. She said that instead of lowering the age, the government should address the reasons behind why the children commit such crimes.
"I would rather address the focus to what can we do to get the children out of those circumstances that they may be pressured in that way to do something," Gray said.
"I would rather that the efforts be refocused to why those children maybe committing those crimes cause working with kids, you know, that when they are that young, when they are 11, 10, nine years old, they're not developed in that way cognitively to make decisions, knowing full way the consequences," she added.
According to CNN Philippines, the Miss Universe 2018 will be kicking off her grand homecoming parade today (Thursday). It will start at 2 p.m. at the Sofitel grounds. She will pass through Roxas Boulevard, TM Kalaw, Taft, Gil Puyat Avenue, and in Makati.
The beauty queen will also have another parade on February 23 that will happen in Cubao, Quezon City.
