Boxing icon and politician Sen. Manny Pacquiao shared his thoughts about his son, Jimuel, pursuing a career on boxing. KAMI learned that the boxing champion himself does not want his son to become a boxer.
In an interview of Pacquiao with ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), he revealed that he and his wife Jinkee, discouraged Jimuel to get into boxing.
“Actually, ayaw namin… We discourage him,” he said, as reported by Inquirer.
“Dini-discourage namin talaga and then sa bahay wala kang makitang boxing gloves o any boxing equipment sa bahay. Basketball meron,” he added.
Pacquiao also said that Jinkee would often cry just to discourage Jimuel. The senator also admitted that it pains him to see Jimuel entering the boxing world because he knows the hardships it entails.
Pacquiao said that he explained to his son why he pursued boxing before. He added that just like him, boxing is the passion of his son.
In a previous report by KAMI, boxing trainer Rodel Mayo has shared on Instagram a clip of Jimuel showing his skills in boxing.
Emmanuel “Jimuel” Pacquiao Jr. is the 18-year-old son of Manny and Jinkee among their five children.
