Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Teodoro “Teddy” Locsin Jr. aired strong words on social media. KAMI learned that the Foreign Affairs chief addressed the issues about birth certificate as a requirement for passport renewal.

Through a tweet, Locsin was asked if there was still a need to submit their birth certificate when renewing a passport.

“Sir @teddyboylocsin kailangan pa rin po ba ng birth certificate pag nag parenew ng passport? Salamat po,” a netizen asked.

“Hindi. P*******. Not for passport renewal. If anyone asks you, tell me who and I will f*cking kill him/her,” Locsin answered.

In a report by ABS-CBN News, Locsin has clarified the issue about the birth certificate.

“I just want to make myself fucking clear. That f*cking birth certificate requirement is out because it was an idiotic requirement according to top retired DFA officials,” the DFA chief said.

However, according to the report of Inquirer, the birth certificate is still required for first time passport applicants; renewal applications for lost and mutilated passports; renewal requiring changes in the passport entries; renewal of old brown and green passports bearing no complete middle name; and applicants included in DFA’s watchlist.

As previously reported by KAMI, Locsin shared on Twitter that the DFA has experienced a data breach, requiring people to bring their birth certificate with them when renewing their passport. However, Locsin has signed an order later on to remove this requirement.
