A photo went viral on social media, claiming that Senate candidate Manuel “Mar” Roxas was drinking water using a plate. However, KAMI learned that the photo was fabricated.
In a report by ABS-CBN News, the photo was shared on different social media platforms like Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter since 2015.
The Senate candidate has been mocked for this photo even when he ran as a president in 2016. Netizens called him “stupid” or “crazy” over this photo.

Even Senatorial aspirant Larry Gadon mocked Roxas and pretended to drink from a plate. Gadon also shared a video of it on Facebook.

However, a French news agency named Agence France-Presse conducted a reverse image search. It has been discovered that the authentic version of the photo was first published in 2015 by the Department of Interior and Local Government through their Twitter account.
A Facebook page supporting Roxas posted their own fact-check on October 19, 2018.
In a previous report by KAMI, a photo of Roxas went viral on social media as well. Roxas was seen riding the train during the rush hours “recently”, since the elections are coming. However, it has been learned that the photo was first posted four years ago.
