Valerie “Bangs” Garcia created buzz on social media with a new video of her daughter Amelia.

KAMI learned that the video shows Bangs teaching her 1-year-old daughter how to do a couple of household chores.

In her viral post, she also discussed the importance of teaching household chores to kids at a young age.

According to Bangs, studies show that children who know how to do household chores are more likely to succeed as adults.

“It’s never too early to get kids involved helping with household chores! Doing chores will help your child feel like they're part of the team. Initially, it’ll be ‘playtime’ for them; but, eventually, they would learn that these duties are a part of daily life and that everyone has a role to play in running the household. Children should know that families are built on mutual obligations and that family members need to help each other. While their efforts may make only a small contribution or none at this stage, you’re teaching them that helping is reasonable and fun. Give them every opportunity and offer them plenty of praise, in time the results will improve too. This will also help build their confidence and self-esteem.

“Showing and teaching your child how to do household chores may be one of the most important things you'll ever do. Children who know how to do chores will also learn responsibility and gain important life skills that will serve them very well throughout their lives.

“Studies show chores are good for children. Research from a well-known 75-year Harvard study examined the childhood psychosocial variables and biological processes that predicted health and well-being later in life. Researchers concluded that kids who had chores fared better later in life. Chores were the best predictor of which kids were more likely to become happy, healthy, independent adults. So...start them young,” Bangs wrote.
