A Chinese national went viral for throwing a cup of taho to a cop at MRT Boni station last Saturday, February 9. KAMI learned that several lawmakers aired their side regarding the viral incident.

In a tweet, Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said that the Chinese national should be declared as both “undesirable” and “alien.”

"She’s undesirable. She’s also an alien. Declare her as both," Lacson said.

Magdalo party-list Representative Gary Alejano also shared his opinion regarding the incident but blamed the government for it.

"This is what happens when our government itself favors the Chinese and calls our country a 'Province of China.' Nagiging second-class citizens ang mga Pilipino at binabastos ng mga dayuhan sa sarili nating bayan," Alejano said.

“Hindi lamang ang ating mga mangingisda at mga sundalo sa West Philippine Sea ang nakararanas ng bullying dahil pati mismo ang ating mga kapulisan ay hindi ginagalang,"

Vice President Leni Robredo also aired her side as reported by ABS-CBN News. According to her, the incident was not just an act to disrespect the police, but also a way of showing disrespect to the entire Philippines. She also said that the incident must serve as a wake-up call to the Filipinos.

"Hindi lang pambabastos sa pulis pero pambabastos ito sa bansa natin," Robredo said.

"Wake-up call iyon sa ating lahat. Ano ba talaga? Maraming reklamo na iyong mga trabahong dapat sana sa Pilipino, nabibigay pa sa Intsik. Tapos ito pa, parang kinakalinga natin sila tapos binabastos nila tayo," she added.

However, Foreign Affairs Secretary Teddy Locsin Jr. has something to say regarding Robredo’s statement.

"Disrespects all Pinoys" That's a lotta taho,” Locsin said.

The Foreign Affairs chief also commented regarding the urge to deport the Chinese national.

“Absolutely. Charge her. But deport? She’s a student who believes enough in us to study here,” Locsin said on Twitter.

In a previous report by KAMI, Chinese national named Jiale Zhang, a 23-year-old fashion student, was caught throwing a cup of taho to Police Officer 1 William Cristobal for prohibiting her to enter at the MRT station due to the new security measure which bans liquids inside the train stations.

The Chinese fashion designer student has been detained at the headquarters of Mandaluyong police. She will be facing charges of disobedience to a person in authority, direct assault, and unjust vexation.
