The tragic story of 19-year-old Ashley Avila Abad has recently made headlines when her family visited the Malacañang Palace to meet President Rodrigo Duterte.
KAMI learned that Grace Avila Abad, Ashley’s mother, shared photos of her family’s meeting with Duterte on her social media account.
“Good to also be here in the Palace, rather serendipitously, when our beloved President took the time out to personally condole and express his support for this family, our dear friends,” was captioned on the said photos.
President Duterte also addressed the tragic death of Ashley during his speech before the barangay officials of Legazpi City.
"Sabihin ko sa inyo ngayon and I’ve been repeating it all along. Do not destroy my country lalo na sa panahon ko. Do not destroy our children and our daughters.
“Kahapon 'yung kay Ashley, yung bata na namatay, parents went there sa opisina ko. Kaganda ng bata, 19 years old, medical student. Ang human rights wala akong narinig sa mga p— inang. Ilang pamilya ‘yan matatamaan? Ilang tao sa isang pamilya?,” he said.
According to GMA, the President did not provide further details about the meeting during his speech, however, the Abad family shared that Duterte assured them that he would give justice for Ashley’s death.

As reported earlier by KAMI, Ashley Abad died at a concert during the Sinulog Festival. The alleged cause of death is drug OD, allegedly taken at the concert. Her father has also been urging the girl’s boyfriend and friends that were present at the concert to come forward and cooperate with the investigators.
