The House of Representatives and the Senate finally approved the proposed P3.757-trillion national budget for 2019 on Friday night, February 8.
The document is now up for President Rodrigo Duterte's signature.
As reported by ABS-CBN News, the final vote at the Senate was 15-5 which made the proposed budget approved.
Based on the statement of the presidential spokesperson, Salvador Panelo, the Palace welcomed the budget ratification.
"We are pleased that both Houses of Congress have reconciled their differences and made a unified approbation of the General Appropriations Bill. Indeed there is no obstacle we cannot hurdle if we put our hearts to it, with only the interest of the Filipino people in mind," he stated.
Panelo guaranteed everyone that the budget will be properly reviewed and they will make sure that the Filipino people will benefit from it.
"We assure the nation that the Executive Branch upon its receipt of the enrolled General Appropriations Bill will thoroughly review the same to ensure that all items comply with the Constitution and the law, and more importantly, they redound to the benefit of the Filipino people," he ensured.
