As of the moment, the partial and unofficial counting shows that Escudero is fourth as displayed in the Commission on Election (COMELEC) Transparency Server whilst Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and Liberal Party’s Rep. Leni Robredo are in a tight race for the top posts.
Though losing is not his game, Escudero humbly conceded.
"Tinatanggap ko ng may buong pagpapakumbaba ang resulta ng halalan. Binabati ko si Mayor Duterte sa kanyang panalo, at sa nagdidikitang laban sa ikalawang pangulo, binabati ko kung sino man ang mananaig sa dulo pero siyempre mas ninanais kong kababayan ko na kung may mananalo," Sen. Escudero said.
On a lighter note, Sen. Escudero said the election has been a good experience for his celebrity spouse, Heat Evangelista-Escudero.
“Unang karanasan niya ito sa aktibong pangangampanya at naging malusog naman para sa kaniya ang karanasan na ito,” he said.
Escudero is also grateful for those who supported him during the months-long campaign.
“Naging malaking karangalan sa akin na makatrabaho lahat ng nakatrabaho at nakasama ko nitong nakaraang buwan kaugnay ng halalan na ito,” he said.
“Kapag gumigising ka naman at maganda rin ‘yung katabi mo, eh ‘di maganda rin ‘yung paggising mo palagi tuwing umaga,” Escudero answered when asked where he gets his optimistic disposition.
He also said that he is looking forward to having his postponed honeymoon with Heart.
“Looking forward to quieter times at mas maraming panahon sa pamilya. At siguro 'yung matagal na naudlot na honeymoon ay matutuloy na,” Escudero said.
Before the press conference ends, he shouted "Okay, bakasyon na!”
His running-mate and Senator Grace Poe also conceded defeat to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte as his numbers show great lead in the presidential race.
