President Rodrigo Duterte revealed that he walked out of the Cabinet meeting last Wednesday out of frustration. KAMI learned that the President was frustrated due to some pending projects by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).
In a report by Manila Bulletin, President Duterte expressed his frustration over the red tape in government and shared that he walked out when it was about to be discussed.
“Kung ganyan ang—red tape o black tape, when they started to debate, pinutol ko sila, ‘I would not like to be a part of this briefing,'” he said.
“This will not happen during my time, so why would I waste my time listening to this when it would take about two presidents to finish. Kaya lumabas ako sabi ko I asked ES [Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea] to kindly take over,” said the President.
“I’ll just… Nakipagtsismisan na lang ako doon sa magagandang babae doon sa labas. Sabi ko I… This is not really something to dwell lengthily pero the system itself is designed to experience a failed government,” he added.
The President also shared his dismay over the NEDA’s slow process of some project applications. The President found out that some applications were pending for over 25 years already.
“Though no fault of anybody, I discovered very late that there are some applications which have been pending in NEDA for 25 years,” the President said.
President Duterte also pointed out the alleged corruption happening at the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in terms of land conversion process as reported by Inquirer.
“So ‘yon namang sa conversion, it took them about two years? And two years that includes corruption. Pabalik-balik ‘yung tao, pabalik-balik. And there’s no end to it, the bleeding of the pocket of the guy and the… Not only the reputation but government suffers for it also,” said President Duterte.
According to Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, they are now working with the concerned agencies in order for the DAR to finalize and implement their new procedures. With the new measures, it can be expected to shorten the land conversion process.
