- According to doctors, Kaylah got infected by herpes due to a person with a cold sore kissing her on the lips
- The child was in a critical condition but was able to survive the ordeal
A mother named Brogan Thomas in Staindrop, England got the scare of her life when her 1-year-old daughter Kaylah Merritt almost died after being kissed on the lips.
KAMI learned that Brogan saw purple and red marks on the body of Kaylah while bathing her last December.
According to PEOPLE, the baby developed the marks after she was kissed on the lips by an adult.
When she was rushed to the hospital, doctors told the mother that Kaylah has been infected by herpes, which can be caused when a person with a cold sore kisses a baby on the lips.
Fortunately, Kaylah survived although doctors said that she could have died if she was brought to the hospital at a later time.
Brogan took to social media to share her thoughts on what happened to her child:
“So I've just seen a post about how parents go over the top about people kissing the child on the lips and that it's perfectly fine? Well I can tell you now that's not the case.
“I've been there with my Kaylah when someone who's had a coldsore has kissed her on the lips, one minute she was ok the next she wasn't, numerous hospital admissions and scares and this was the result herpercitum! Please please don't kiss children on the lips ( but parents)! We was very lucky we caught it when we did,” Brogan said.
