- A 39-year-old was executed by Saudi Arabia for murder
- This was confirmed by the Department of Foreign Affairs
- The government has already sent its condolences to the family of the Filipina OFW
Last Tuesday, January 29, the government of Saudi Arabia has carried out the death penalty sentence for a Pinay OFW.
KAMI learned that she was a "household service worker" and was found guilty of murder.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has just confirmed the sad news this Thursday, January 31.
Just this morning, the DFA has released its official statement concerning the said Pinay.
"The Department regrets that it was not able to save the life of the Filipina after the Saudi Supreme Judicial Council classified her case as one in which blood money does not apply under Shariah law," stated the DFA as reported by Rappler.
Adnan Alonto, Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia said that the government has provided all the necessary assistance to the unnamed Pinay, including a lawyer who assisted her during the trial.
The family of the said OFW has requested for privacy as of this time.
