- Singaporean actor Aloysius Pang did not return to his country alive after his military training
- The celebrity, and all other young men in the country, was required to render services to the armed forces
- Aloysius damaged his organs while on training
An unfortunate incident in Singapore prompted its military to commit to reducing the intensity and frequency of its training programs for the members of the armed forces.
KAMI learned that Singaporean actor Aloysius Pang, who is also serving as a military reserve, passed away on January 24 after damaging his abdomen and chest while training in New Zealand.
The celebrity was able to complete the 2-year mandatory military service to all the young men in the said country and he was just fulfilling the annual training obligations.
However, the unfortunate incident stopped him from being a member of the armed forces as he was put in life support after undergoing surgeries and later on died.
According to a report by Inquirer.net, Aloysius was helping to repair a large artillery device when a gun barrel was lowered on it, causing him to damage his organs.
Because of this, Chief of Defence Force Melvyn Ong vowed that there will be changes in the training exercises particularly in their intensity and “tempo.”
He expressed that they will do necessary adjustments so that their activities will be safer and the same incident will not happen again.
“This reduction of training tempo… will be enforced for as long as it takes for us to get it right. And we want to do it right, we want to do it safe for every activity, we want to do it right every time,” Melvyn stated.
Meanwhile, Aloysius’ elder brother Kenny immediately went to New Zealand upon hearing the sad news.
In grief, he expressed that his late sibling was the favorite in the family and he often returned all the love by supporting his family.
“He’s the precious of our family. He’s the youngest. He’s the most loved. To reciprocate that… he has also given us all the support and all the love he can,” Kenny quipped.
Aloysius Pang is a well-known celebrity in Singapore who is managed by NoonTalk Media. He made appearances in several movies and drama series including “Young & Fabulous” and “The Truth Seekers."
