- Sen. JV Ejercito said that according to DOH, no death was confirmed caused directly by Dengvaxia
- This was when Sen. Ejercito was defending the budget of DOH
- He said that as per DOH, the deaths were caused by dengue or other diseases
According to Department of Health (DOH), there was no confirmed death caused directly by Dengvaxia or dengue vaccine. KAMI learned that this was told by officials of DOH to the senators on Tuesday.
In a report by Inquirer, chair of Senate health panel, Sen. JV Ejercito said that according to DOH, there was no confirmed death due to Dengvaxia as he defended the DOH budget.
“According to the DOH, no deaths are directly attributable to Dengvaxia. The cause of death is for dengue or other diseases,” said the senator.
Sen. Ejercito also said that Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) has different position from the DOH.
“Isn’t the DOH more competent?” asked Sen. Panfilo Lacson. He also added that 20 countries already approved the Dengvaxia vaccine.
As previously reported by KAMI, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recommended to press charges against former President Benigno Aquino III as well as former Health Secretary Janette Garin, and former Budget Secretary Butch Abad after reports broke out that some children died due to the Dengvaxia vaccine.
