- Who will own the Miss Universe PH franchise becomes a trending topic online
- Stella Araneta claimed that her organization still holds the ownership
- However, Chavit Singson revealed that his company will handle the prestigious pageant
Contrary to the statement of Stella Araneta, former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis "Chavit" Singson finally revealed yesterday that he is now the new franchise holder of Miss Universe Philippines.
KAMI learned of this revelation after the wealthy personality got interviewed by a newspaper columnist named Wilson Lee Flores regarding the handling of the prestigious pageant.
It can be remembered that Stella cleared on January 3 that there has been no changes with the franchise of Miss Universe Philippines and it is still with Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc.
However, Chavit confessed through an interview with The Philippine Star that he already got the much-talked-about franchise from the Miss Universe Organization (MUO).
He claimed that one of the factors why he became the holder is because of his contributions during the 65th Miss Universe held in the Philippines.
The former Governor was the co-producer of the said event when it was held in the country and he also gave non-refundable US$1 million or more than 50 million in peso.
"True, the franchise is already with me, but it has not yet been announced,” Chavit expressed.
"I think it shall be formally announced this January or February, when Catriona comes back again to the Philippines,” he added.
During his term as the franchise holder, the businessman promises that he and his team will be preparing a lot for the 2019 Miss Universe Philippines pageant.
Chavit will also be having a significant contribution in the next edition of the prominent international pageant which will be held in South Korea.
For now, the clear change that the former Governor wants is to replace the title of the Philippine pageant from Binibining Pilipinas Universe to Miss Universe Philippines.
"Sisiguraduhin daw nilang walang ibang malaking kasabay na sports event ang Miss Universe na posibleng idaos sa December,” the interviewer said.
"Sinabi rin ni Chavit na malaki ang paghahandang gagawin nila para sa search for Miss Universe Philippines 2019, pero hindi pa niya sinabi ang venue," he added.
In a previous article by KAMI, it was reported that Chavit paid millions of dollars just to bring Miss Universe to the Philippines.
Born on June 21, 1941, Chavit Singson is considered as one of the richest personalities in the country. Aside from being a Governor, he was also the Deputy National Security Adviser for the Philippine government in 2008.
