- Two images of purportedly “clean” Davao City went viral online
- It was posted by a page supporting former PNP Chief Bato dela Rosa
- However, the post was debunked by a French news agency
There was a social media post that went viral after claiming that Davao is “clean” and does not have any trash according to the photos. However, KAMI learned that the claim is false as reported by ABS-CBN News.
Through a Facebook post, a page supporting former PNP Chief Ronald and Senate candidate “Bato” dela Rosa shared two images of alleged Davao City.
“Ganito kadisiplina ang mga tao sa Davao City. Napakalinis ng paliigid at walang basura,” it said in the caption.
A French news agency, Agence French-Presse made a reverse search of the photos. However, they found out that the photos appeared from a blog that was published way back 2014. The blog was about Marikina City’s bikeways. You may check the blog here.
The other photo was tracked coming from Marikina City local government unit’s official website. Check out the site here.
The post had more than 1,400 engagements and was shared 1,700 times. The netizens were quick to comment that the post was misleading.
Davao City is the hometown of President Rodrigo Duterte. He was the mayor of the city for over two decades and he also served as the vice mayor of his daughter, Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
In a previous report by KAMI, another post went viral on social media after claiming that photos showed how “disciplined”, “clean” and there was no traffic in Davao City. It was later on discovered that the photos were taken in Iloilo City.
