- The volcano was under “moderate level of unrest” according to Phivolcs
According to Phivolcs, the Mayon Volcano in Albay spewed ash twice on December 27, Thursday morning. KAMI learned that the Mayon Volcano is currently under “moderate level of unrest” as reported by ABS-CBN News.
The volcano erupted “white steam-laden plumes” that were observed at 8:30 AM and 8:45 AM. The Alert Level 2 was raised over Mayon Volcano. Phivolcs warned the residents nearby for sudden explosions, lava collapses, pyroclastic density currents and ash fall.
In a report by Inquirer, according to Phivolcs’ director, Renato Solidum, the ash explosions were triggered by steam pressure underneath the volcano.
As previously reported by KAMI, last November 26, Mayon Volcano erupted ash twice which rose to 300 to 500 meters. Alert Level 2 was raised also that time and the volcano was under “moderate level of unrest” as well.
