A social media post went viral saying that according to former Interior Secretary Rafael “Raffy” Alunan III said that the father of the Ateneo student involved in the viral bullying incident is a police who was assigned in Mindanao for being a scalawag.

In the post’s caption it said, “Tatay ng Bully ay Police Scalawag. Kaya naman pala. Panoorin ang rebelasyon ni dating DILG secretary Raffy Alunan tungkol sa tatay ng basagulerong atenista. Pakikalat po para mapakinggan ng mga kababayan natin ang sinabi ng dating kalihim.”

As previously reported by KAMI, Alunan said that he asked around and looked into the Philippine National Police (PNP) just to learn that the father of the student is scalawag.

However, Rappler said that the claim is false. According to PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent Benigno Durana Jr., there is no name of the alleged bully’s father in their PNP personnel Accounting System, Records Management Division, and the Directorate for Personnel Records Management.

“With due respect to former Secretary Alunan, our database is more reliable than his sources,” Durana said.

In a previous report by KAMI, the student involved in the bullying incident caught in a viral video was dismissed from his school, Ateneo de Manila Junior High School. KAMI also reported that Philippine Taekwondo Association released their sanction to the “bully” student.
