Veteran singer Lea Salonga courageously took a swipe at the parents and school of the viral Ateneo student who was caught bullying his schoolmate inside the restroom.

KAMI learned that the promising musician was triggered by a lot of posts on her social media account so she decided to release a strong statement Saturday about the trending topic.

Lea began by reiterating the public’s outcry about the alleged connection of the boy’s parents – who were rumored to be Cojuangcos - to the administration of the Ateneo de Manila University.

She also expressed that the aforementioned institution must have a “swifter” action in addressing the attitude of the “bully” whose name is Joaquin Montes.

“There has been so much posted online regarding the bullying incident inside the boys' rest room of the Ateneo de Manila junior high school. Plenty of inflamed netizens have reacted, and lamented the seeming indifference of school officials due to the supposed well-connectedness of this boy's parents,” she wrote through her Facebook post.

“I think we all agree that the school needs to take much swifter action with regards to this boy's pattern of behavior (there are allegedly more victims, and more videos), as well as with this boy's accomplices…” she added.

The veteran singer emphasized in her post that the parents of the viral student really have a vital role to play in raising their child.

She stated that they have to discipline their son in order for Joaquin to learn from his mistakes and not do it anymore next time.

With regards to the victims, Lea said that they should never keep mum about bullying and that every parent might need to enroll their kids to self-defense classes.

“The bully's parents need to come down hard on their kid. On that, we have common ground,” she quipped.

“For the victims, here's one piece of advice: don't be defenseless anymore. Parents, it might be a good idea to enroll your child in a self-defense class… So that when a little s*** bully tries to mess with your son or daughter, you're already ahead of the game,” she added.

At the end of her statement, Lea said that she and a lot of people are watching the actions that the Ateneo de Manila University are taking.

In a previous article by KAMI, the school already released its decision regarding the viral bullying incident inside its premises.

Lea Salonga is considered as one of the celebrities who never hesitates in voicing out her sentiments. Few of her strong aired opinions were about the Duterte administration and fellow singer Juan Karlos Labajo.
