- The symbolic national costume that was gracefully sported by Catriona Gray during Miss Universe 2018 was indeed stunning
- The actual weight of it was more than 10 kilos excluding the big lantern which is really heavy to wear for a lady
- Take a look at the materials that were used to produce such marvelous outfit
Rommel Recuerdo Aquino of the Materials Research and Conservation Division of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) has revealed the weight of the costume that Catriona Gray wore in Miss Universe 2018.
They mentioned the weight of each part of the costume excluding the lantern and reminded everyone that the Miss Universe 2018 has scoliosis but still managed to bear such massive wear with poise.
"The combined weight of her body accessories alone (minus the parol) makes us marvel at the sheer determination of our Miss Universe to really showcase the wealth of the Filipino culture despite the many inconveniences her national costume entailed," he wrote.
"By the way, Ms. Gray has scoliosis," he added.
He listed down every piece of it with its corresponding weight.
Head gear: 1.5kilos
Brass belt: 3.2 kilos
Beaded body suit 1 kilo
Shoes 3.7 kilos
The uploader also revealed that they are doing the needed tasks such as documentation and assessment of the entire costume before it will be exhibited.
"We are now documenting and assessing the materials and the damages on the costume in preparation for its display," he stated.
It can be remembered that they named that remarkable costume as 'LuzViMinda' to represent the three major island groups in the Philippines, which are Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
