KAMI learned that Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo have spoken about the Ateneo bullying incident.
Malacañang reportedly was "bothered" by the viral video that shows a Junior High School student of Ateneo de Manila bullying another teenager.
Hence, calling out the school to do an investigation.
Panelo said that he watched the viral video of the student using his martial arts' skills to hurt others, and so, he's calling out the school to "do something" about the bullying incidents that happened inside its premises.
In a press briefing on Friday, December 21, 2018, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said, and we quote:
“I watched that. I was bothered by what I saw. I think they should investigate first why there was such a one-sided fight given the fact that the one who mauled was much smaller. Baka naman may nag-trigger (Maybe something triggered him)."
The Presidential Spokesperson continued to express that "bullying is prohibited in schools," and that there is a law about that.
“Pero dapat talaga imbestigahan (But it should really be investigated). I think we should investigate this, the school should investigate the incidents and do something about it. You cannot be allowing bullying inside classroom and school."
The report also stated that Ateneo is conducting an investigation with regard to this matter and said that they would "dismiss or expel students" who are found guilty, as Rappler reported.
As for the Philippine Taekwondo Association, the report mentioned that the latter is initiating its own investigation to confirm if the bully is a Taekwondo practitioner.
