- A social media post claimed that Bato dela Rosa was declared as ‘persona non grata’ in US
- According to the post, Dela Rosa was allegedly held at the airport
- However, the post had been debunked and the claim was reported false
A social media post went viral claiming that former Bureau of Corrections director general and former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa was allegedly on hold in an airport because he was declared as ‘persona non grata’ in United States.
However, KAMI learned that the claim had been debunked by Rappler.
A Facebook post with photos of Dela Rosa sitting on the ground of JFK Airpot circulated online. In the caption it stated, “Sino kaya ang tunggak na ito na hinold muna sa JFK airport[?] Persona non grata ka kasi sa US boy."
As reported by Rappler, the caption of the post was misleading. Dela Rosa was not held at the airport nor was he declared as ‘persona non grata’ in the United States.
The photos used in the viral post was originally posted by Dela Rosa on Facebook. In the caption he said, “Homeless @ jfk airport, ny. Laag pa more!”
In a previous report by KAMI, Dela Rosa filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) to run as a senator in the upcoming mid-term polls in 2019. His campaign slogan is “Itaga mo sa Bato”.
