Senator Sonny Angara filed a bill which requires all schools to give designated chairs for left-handed students. However, KAMI learned that the netizens criticized the bill.
KAMI brings this news to the readers to enlighten about the new bill filed by Angara in the Senate.
As reported by Inquirer, Angara said that right-handed school chairs may be hazardous to left-handed students.
“The inefficient and awkward writing position that left-handed students must adopt in right-handed armchairs causes slower handwriting, placing them at a disadvantage on important timed examinations,” said Angara.
In a report by GMA News, experts said that around thousands of left-handed students are struggling to meet their requirements in school. They also stated that around 10 to 15 percent of the population worldwide are left-handed.
However, the netizens seemed not to like the new bill filed by Sen. Angara. Here are some of their comments on the Facebook page of Inquirer:
“paano naman yung mga left-handed at right-handed students na hirap pagkasyahin ang baon dahil sa TRAIN Law mo?”
“Instead of focusing on this small issue why don’t this Senator face the prevailing issue. Lack of classroom, lack of school teacher, lack of books and lack of schools specially in remote areas.”
“Oa..di ganun ka importante yun...pinipicturan nlng ngyon ng mga studyante ang board eh.Libro kuya, librooooooo!”
“Sa tinagal-tagal mo dyan sa Senado di mo pa alam na may mga ganyang upuan na sa mga eskwelahan. Kung kulang, kailangan pa ba ng batas para dyan? Kung kuropsyon kaya sa DepEd at Ched ang iyong inatupag at hindi ang TRAIN Law baka mas malaki ang maitutulong mo.”
“I'm a lefty and sitting on right handed chair is irrelevant.Un iba nga walang classroom e, sila po ang unahin nyo good Senator.”
“I disagree Sen. Agara, students must learn to adjust early in their life for this because in licensure examinations or even LTO exams you cannot just ask for your “SPECIAL ARMCHAIR”.”
“I am a lefty and I had no problems sitting on a righ-hand chair. Never even asked for it.”
“We already had this kind of chair. I used left handed chair from elementary until high school. FYI po, Mr. Senator. Could you think of anything more helpful please?”
In a previous report by KAMI, Angara filed his certificate of candidacy to seek a re-lection for the upcoming mid-term polls in 2019.
