A Filipino eSports player was barred from playing at the Dota 2 Chongqing Major in China. The said million-dollar tournament was reported to face threats of boycott.
KAMI learned that professional Filipino gamer Carlo “Kuku” Palad, member of TNC Predator was accused of making a racist remark against the Chinese gaming community as reported by GMA News.
"However, it seems like TNC is currently not taking proper responsibility for their actions, coupled with the attempted cover-up by the team, so we are now stepping in directly and banning Kuku from attending this event," according to a blog post by the Chinese government.
In a tweet by TNC, they said that Kuku could no longer enter China and that the Chinese government might cancel the tournament if he insists to attend.
As reported by ABS-CBN News, some eSports analysts and casters posted threats to boycott the tournament.
In a previous report by KAMI, a Senatorial aspirant became viral when she said she wanted to ban video games Dota and Clash of Clans (COC). The said aspirant also filed her candidacy in 2016 but she was disqualified.
