Veteran singer Bituin Escalante showed how much she regrets voting for President Rodrigo Duterte as she now fully supports the eight senatoriables of the opposition.
KAMI learned that the promising singer was once a strong fan of Duterte but she eventually withdrew her support because of the controversies that the head of state continues to face.
It can be remembered that Bituin posted a strong statement about the government, expressing that a lot of Filipinos voted in 2016 with hesitations.
“Many of the 16M voted for him with reluctance. I did so out of a misplaced anger. But I’m rather thick skinned so I have no reluctance putting this out there,” she exclaimed.
Now, the Pinay belter decided to participate in the launching of Team Pilipinas, a group of volunteers who back the Oposisyon Koalisyon, on November 29 at the Quezon City food park.
Bituin was the one who sang the national anthem and even tried to convince people to be “part of the solution.”
She claimed that Filipinos should only vote for individuals who have high respect to the constitution and to other human beings.
They believe in our laws. So we may fight over the little things, pero ang prinsipiyo, ang paninindigan sa batas, ‘yan ang kaya kong panindigan na paninindigan ng 8,” she added.

Meanwhile, Bituin took another strong swipe at Duterte for his bloody war on drugs that has allegedly killed thousands of people.
She even emphasized that she just could not remain silent about the heavy issues of the country because she knows she was part of the problem due to her vote for the current President.
In a previous article by , the other details of her withdrawal of support for Duterte were reported.
Born on April 23, 1977, Bituin is considered as one of the most iconic singers in the country today. One of her achievements was being the grand prize winner in the 2002 Himig Handog Music Love Song Festival for her interpretation of “Kung Ako Na Lang Sana.”
